Gotta love the Global chef knife

The late Anthony Bourdain once said that the average Joe in the kitchen should toss all their knives and just get one Global chef’s knife.

Here’s a fun fact: Global is known for it’s unique dot pattern on the handle. Most folks who have never held one think that it is a textured grip with raised bumps. Not so! They are actually dimples painted black, similar to a golf ball’s bumps.

This dot pattern was inspired by a fear that the Japanese would associate the all-stainless steel knife to the ice cube trays everyone hated back then because they would stick to your fingers when you took it out of the freezer. They wanted people to be curious about the handle and want to grip it.

These things take a wicked edge. The first time I sharpened one, I could not believe the edge it took.
